Birthday, Jet! I just watched Wong Sai Yuk II yesterday, and my heart is still
thumping from the bench scene when you're saving your "mother". My only
comment: WOW! Good job on your English in the movie "Romeo Must Die" and
"Lethal Weapon 4". I remember seeing you on Leno's show and you were explaining
that you had just learned English for a few months before making the movie.
Again, WOW! Not only are you CUTE and EXCELLENT at martial arts, but you're
SMART too! Who wouldn't admire you? haha Just for me, do you think you can make
another Wong Fei Hung movie? You play his character so well! haha Ever hear the
rumor that you were the next Bruce Lee? Well, they're wrong. You're WAY better

I want to applaud you on your great accomplishments and
the wonderful role model you have become. You are an inspiration to so many
people, and a teacher to us as well. You really have created a phenomenon that
I think is unprecedented in the entertainment industry. From my own
perspective, the more I try to figure out why I adore the phenomenon of Jet Li
so much, the more I realize how little I know of myself. In learning more about
your life story, your films, and your philosophy, I've also learned to
meditate, to focus, and to push myself to the limits. Where before I couldn't
fathom the concept of a little boy practicing his kicks and his punches for
hours at a time in a quest for perfection, I now approach my own work and goals
with the same thirst for excellence. Through your films and interviews, I've
also rediscovered another part of myself that I've ignored in the past. As a
Chinese-American, I spent most of my childhood rejecting my heritage and
seeking to blend myself into the American melting pot. But now after visiting
China and Taiwan again, taking some classes in Chinese archaeology, history,
and martial arts, and learning more about your approach to life, I've come to
appreciate the wonders and the gloriousness of being Chinese. I am now
determined to improve my grasp of the written and spoken Chinese language and
to expand my professional practice so that I can be of some benefit to the
Chinese people and the Chinese culture. Thank you, Jet, for all your hard work
